Bowdoin Badly Beaten By Dartmouth. Yale Defeats Bates 90 to 0 With Second Eleven. team played a man In green sweater named Mahoney who halls from Rochester. N. H., and belongs TO the Athletic club of that llaoe and ten or dozen other men Of the same club. The final score was As to and the zsro should be made very large one without any quirks in 1t. The man in the green sweater Is particularly mentioned because he was about the only man Of the Rochester team who could be counted as being In the same class with the =. A. G. players. He did about all the play ing that was done. was everywhere in evidence and showed himself to be q very good man. The crowd was large and rather disappointed at the tamsnesI of the game. The p. A. q. players had good after noon OF practice but it Is doubtful IL 1t did them very much good in preparing them for the great contest of the year with combination team from the New tomne Athletic club and from the New ton A. G. which Is scheduled hers for November 18th. The p. A. O. men played hard at first but became very care less and slow towards the last end of the game and took little interest In 1t. Some good plays were made by the home team in the course Of the afternoon. Almost every nan had chance to try his hand at touchdown and all of them had runs to their credit from twenty to forty yards during the game. All kinds of combinations were tried and all manner OF plays attempted. Macreadie, the younger, filled the position as full back. He Is not as strong man In THE position as is Halliday but he showed up very we’ll. His weakness Is In his goal kicking but be punts fairly well, Smith WAS sick and though he played the first part Of tho game 1t was thought best for him to leave before the end of the first half and Coombs was put In his place. Coombs seems able to I’LL any position aud fill 1t we’ll He played q good game at centsr and worked as hard as he al ways does. Kelley aud Chapman played the first half as the half backs ami their a strong combination and equal about anything behind the line that the club has ever had. Twitchell took Chapman 8 place In tie second half and showed up remarkably well. Twltchell 10 back with plenty OF go In him and lots OF sand. He keeps his eye on the ball all the time and is quick and has good knowledge OF this game. The p. A. G. is more than we’ll sup piled with backs this season and should show up we’ll before it comes to an end. Sullivan was at quarter back Saturday. Johnny is all right In this position but in the last part of the game Satu. Gay was trille slow. This was because the entire team began to take things easy and all of them let up good deal towards the last end of the game. Sullivan has not played much this season but is In his old tins form and is as nc tive as ever. He Will fill this place we’ll for some of those old time forty yard rams which once made his playing SO notice. able in the high school days. Tracy, an old Deering player, was tried Saturday afternoon at right tackle and did we’ll. Pickett was at the other tackle and during the afternoon did some good work. In fact the entire team ON Saturday was very strong one and shows the good material which the club has to draw upon. The Rochester Athletic team was CONposed OF very light men through whose line the p. A. O. men tumbled at will. They didn’t have the ball more than two the game and when they..hadsthey didn’t seem able to keep it or do anything with it. Their work was entirely on the defensive and they didn’t show very good knowledge of this. The imam In the green sweater” named Mahoney, began the game at full back, but finished 1t at left guard. He was everywhere in evil dence and seemed to do about all the tackling that was done, broke up all the plays that were broken up, when the visitors had the ball did all the running with it and in fact seemed to play the entire game. Brook played at right guard during the early part OF the game and was as good man as Mahoney but he was injured quite severely before the first half was ended and was Obliged to retire. In mixup Brock got cut on his fore head which requires two stitches to be taken and of course this kept him out of the game. The game was not very exciting and the final score was As to o.
