Navy Looks 10 Wood For Good Showing Against Army Special Dispatch to The Star. ANNAPOLIS, Nov. 27.-Army and Navy football teams never have met, as they will meet in Philadelphia next Saturday, without either team being backed by a victory in major contest. Interest in the game this season will center on the rivalry between the two services rather than any athletic excellence likely to be displayed. The 28–0 victory of Princeton last Saturday was crusher, but Navy people are not doWncast and have planned to show their loyalty to the team and the coaching staff, headed by Maj Emery Larson of the ma rines, in vigorous manner this week. AS to the Navy team, and par ticularly the backfeld. the situation is most uncertain. No back this year has shown any consistent ability either in ball-carrying or pass ing. The running attack has been the weakest for years, and though such backs as Bob Leonard and Tom Blount have shown spurts of passing ability in some games, they have failed to maintain their good work. If Emmett Wood, Navy’s best car rier during the past two seasons who was injured in the Dartmouth game and played briefly against Princeton, is in shape, he undoubtedly will start against Army or get in early. Despite his long absence from the game, Wood is by far the most likely of the Navy backs to be effective as ball carrier If he is in condition.
