CRUSADERS SUFFER WORST DEFEAT Kavanaugh Scores Four Times in 26–7 Triumph; Yale Promising Boston, Oct. 9.-UP).-Victim Of the most startling upset in Saturdays football games in New Eng LAND, Holy Cross was still smartiag today from the 26 to z walloping adminiStered by Louisiana State Uni versity. The LSU victory was practically a one-man triumph for the Little Rock, Ark, giant, Kenneth William Kavanaugh, who scored all four touchdowns, three on passes from Leo Bird. 1t was the worst defeat suffered by the Worcester Jesuits In their recent football history. Harvard, Dartmouth and Brown came up with easily-won victories over cocky but weak opponents. OF the three, Dartmouth perhaps had the toughest time trying to break down the ctubborn Hampden-Sydney line. The big green, leading the Virginians by . to 6 at half, final ly broke down the tough resistance to win 3 to 6. Though lacking in high scoring punch, the Yale team rallied behind sophomore Hovey Seymour, fleet looted back, to edge out Columbia 10 to Seymour’s attack and Yales ability to capitalize on Columbia fumbles were eclipSed by the brilliant field goal of an unheralded junior, Howard Kaye, whose -5-yard Kick provided the margin of victory. Harvard had little trouble In scor- Ia g 20 to 0 victory of the out classed Bates eleven, while Brown upset Amherst 20 to IA in their first meeting in 10 years. Williams travelled to New Jersey to suffer a Is to loss beneath the burning attack of Princeton. Boston University, though PLAYING through four ragged periods, came OUT on top witt 10 to Z win over FRANKLIN g. Marshall.
