YALE DEFEATED WILLIAMS. The Best Game Yet Played-Work o1 Backs Improved. The Best Game Yet Played-Work of Backs Improved. Yale defeated Williams 23 to 0 Sat- urday at Yale field in the best game played thus far this year. The Will Hams team played with dash and vim which made the crowd fear that they might score before the game end- ed. They have evidently caught the Yale spirit from their coaches, Hine and Hazen. But their team play was not equal to that of the Yale team and they were tired before the end of the game so that Yale went through their line more easily. They were weak on offensive play and had the ball very little during the game. During the first half the Williams line frequently “got the jump on’‘ the Yale line, thus preventing the Yale backs from making the gains which would have otherwise resulted from their good work. The in- terference of the backs was the best put up by them this season. Town shend at half played an excellent game, following his interference closely and running we’ll when it had been broken up. His own work in interference was the best of any of the backs. Yale scored twice in the first half, once as result of Benjamin’s run around the end and again from blocked kick by Andrews, which Brown secured and carried across for touchdown. They score twice more in the second half, Townshend getting one touchdown by a sixty-yard run around left end. The lineup was as follows: Yale Position.
