Yale Registers an Easy Victory Over Williams, SO TO O NEW HAVEN, Conn. Oct. 2f.--Thc Yale bulldog got its iirst taste of Crimson meat this afternoon. The tempting morsel was in the form of Harvard play, which the Williams eleven displayed under the guidance Of Percy Wendell, former halfback field star, who is now the Purple mentor. The Eli eleven displayed the best offensive attack they have shown this season and piled up a lead of tWenty-one points at the end Of the ty-eight before the final whistle. Wiiiiams’s only threat came just as the spectators were fling out of the Bowl, when Mallon lleaved a long pass to Chandler, who raced forty yards through clean field until Hart, sub Yale end, pulled him down from behind, furnishing the most spectacular play of the day. Captain Jordan, playing his first game since the North Carolina battle, turned IN some good line playing before he retired in favor of Cochrsna. Neale, brother of Earle Neale, Wash ington and Jefferson mentor, displayed brand OF football to-day which marks him as very important addition to the Yaie back field. Yale used twenty six players to-day, Jones taking advantage of chance to try out virtually his entire second team. Six minutes after the Kickoff Neale placed the ball on Williams 3o-yard line by six consecutive end runs. Yale was held for downs, but Neidlinger ran Williams kick back to the same spot 1t was kicked from and in two tackle plays Jordan scored. Jordan and Neale started the second march from the center, Neidlinger added about twenty by reversing his field, and after Neale had made two first downs Jordan went over for his second tally. Knapp carried the ball around one end and then another half the whole length OF the field. Neidlinger added another first down and Knapp carried the ball around left end. In the second half on an exchange Of kicks Yale pushed into Williams ter ritory. The Purple funbled and Loveline. After two end plays Cochrane went over right guard for the fourth tally. In the final quarter Scott intercepted a wild misplay and raced thirty yards before he was pulled down. Kelly worked down to Williams 1o-yard line and then creased the Purple goal line on wide right end run for the last touchdown. Yale again gained enough on an exchange Of kicks for Kelly to lift over thirty-yard field goal from q difficult angle, which ended the scoring. Captain Boynton displayed q splendid game at defense, while Mallon is formed in the bowl this year. The l;ps-,,n.
