COLUMBIA winner ENDING BIC SEASON Montgomery Versatile Star as. Lions Trim Syracuse DecisiveIy, 100. n YEW YORK, November 25.- M The 1888 Columbia foot / Y actin today completed one of the most successful cam paigns of Lion gridiron history as it rolled to a 16-to-0 victory over its ancient foe, Syracuse. Completely outplaying the Orange, throughout every period, the blue-andwhitehead warriors slashed over a touchdown in both the third and fourth quarters and added the other three points with a 16-yard placement goal from the field by Newt Wilder near the games end. Only one defeat, at the hands of undefeated Princeton early in the season, mars the Columbia record, while victories were scored over Cornell, Navy, Virginia Lafayette, Lehigh and Penn State. Capt Cliff Montgomery. making his Field, gave brilliant exhibition in leading his team to victory. He personally lugged over both touchdowns, did all the forward passing and punt ing, held the ball for Wilders field goal and for both the ties for point and directed the attack from his post at quarterback.
