Columbia Bowls Over Syracuse, B-8, in Wild, Woody Fray NEW YORK, Nov. 22.-Columbia scored twice by air and twice by land today to whip Syracuse, 28–8 In wild and wooly football game that wound up in confusion with only one goalpost standing as dark ness settled over $4,000 dampened customers at Baker Field. Occasional rain, frequent penal ties and several displays of temper marred this final contest of the season for both teams, which unloaded all the offensive weapons at their command, including a few poorly aimed blows at opponents chins. With the ong-drawn-out battle enveloped in semidarkness toward the end, Columbia was caught on two or three plays with only 10 men on the field and Syracuse followers tore down the Lion goal post with more than a minute of the contest remaining as the fans booed loudly But the Lions had long since seweo up their fifth straight triumph on two touchdown passes by Gene Rossides, who also had two others nullifled by penalties, and two scoring line smashes by Fullback Ventar Yablonski, playing his last game fol the Light Blue along with nine other men. The Lions entered the game with out having been scored on since theil upset of Army in midseason, but 9 safety In the second quarter ruined their bid for a fourth straight shut out. Then in the final period, Arden Mcconnell intercepted one Of Jack Nork’s passes and rambled 80 yards to bring the Orangemen their touch down, the first scored against Co. lumbia since the first half OF the ARMY game
