Five times in the first half the Wolverines pushed inside the Buck eyes IS, but only once did they maintain the drive to score and highly favored Michigan led by only TO at half time before turning on the power in the last half for two more touchdowns. Upstart Ohio State, geared for what would have been the seasons biggest upset. stopped the mighty Wolverines three times inside the rs in the first two periods, once talking the ball on downs. But the power that had swept the Wolverines through II straight VIC tories since mid-season last year netted a first period score on Chalmers Dump Elliott’s 4-yard end sweep and Halfback Bob Chappuis and Fullback Jack Weisenburser crossed the last white stripe once each in the last half on short runs. COLLEGE FOOTBALL ROUNDUP NEW YORK, Nov. 24.-lR- Ex- cept for all-conquering Notre Dame and once-tied Pennsylvania, five of the nations seven unde- feated major college football teams today were either bowl-bound or were awaiting “feelers’ to partici- pate in post-season clashes. Three of these elite elevens, Michigan and Southern Methodist, each with a spotless slate, and once-tied Southern California all ready were in no matter what happened from here on in. The other two, unscathed Penn State and once -deadlocked Kansas, have not received any definite offers but both were reported being un- der consideration for appearances in bowl games. Undefeated Notre Dame already has announced it’s antipathy tow ard any post season games as has once-tied Penn. Each still has one game to play on it’s regular schedule, the Irish meeting South ern California in decisive game December 6, and the Quakers en- gazing Cornell in traditional Thanksgiving game. Ire jans- Wolverines No matter what the outcome of the Notre Dame-USC game a week from Saturday, the Trojans will face Michigan in the Rose Bowl at Pasadena, California, New Years Day. Saturdays 60 win over UCLA insured it for the Trojans. The Wolverines clinched their en- try last week when they swamp ed Wisconsin for the Big Nine title. The 21–0 triumph over Ohio State day before yesterday had no rearing. Cotton Bowl Southern Methodist, the last of the four unbeaten and united teams, is a certainty to be the host team in the Cotton Bowl at Dallas, Texas, January l. The Cotton Bowl takes the Southwest confer ence champion as host team. SMU has not yet clinched the title but can do so by beating Texas Christ ian next Saturday. However, victory over Baylor in sured the Mustangs appearance in the Bowl since only Texas could tie SMU for the title should the once-baaten Longhorns beat Texas A & M Thanksgiving Day, and if SMU lost to TCU, precedent calls for the team that lost to the other during the season to withdraw from the Cotton Bowl pie ture in case of a tie. Penn State looms as the guest team. Penn State concluded it’s first undsfeated. united season since 1912 Saturday by walloping Pittsburgh 29–0. Other schools under consideration include Georgia Tech, Mississippi and Kansas. A committee is eX- pected to go over all available teams today. Kansas In Demand Kansas, sharing the Big Six conference title with Oklahoma, was being mentioned prominently
