HARvARD’s PLUCKY GAME. Defeated the Carlisle Indians by & Score of i to o. Boston. Oct. 3l-Harvard’s scalp will not adorn the Carlisle Indian wigwam tonight, for by the pluckest sort of resist ance the wearers of the crimson prevented their opponents getting single point, and when time was called had beaten the visitors by a touchdown. The score was to o. 1t was narrow escape for Harvard and the $4,000 people will seldom again see so thrilling a contest. 1t was gen uina football battle. On one side was Harvard’s scientific interference and open play; on the other the muScu ular strength native litheness and mass plays which too often succeeded in tearing through Harwards line. Time and again the Indians would mass OF use revolving wedges and break through the crimson center, supposed TO be i’m pregnable. THE ONLY TOUCHDOWN. In the first half Harvard, with the ad. vantage of the wind at their back, kept the ball in the Indians territory most of the time. AT last, after a magnificen. run of forty-five yards and a strong buck ut the line by Dunlop. he got the ball down and Harvard scored four points. Brown failed lniserably at an easy goal In the second half the Indians furious onslaughts were well nigh irresiStit:e. Again and again they ploughed through Harvard’s line. and at last had the ball only ten yards from the goal line. But here, in their last trench, the Harvard boys held with the grip of cable car and the Indians forfeited the ball on downs, while shouts went up from the 900 Harward throats. Brown punted the ball out of danger and the crowd gave a concerted cry of relief. During the rest of the half the Harvard goal was in little danger HARVARD PLAYERS INJURED. Harvard suffered most from injuries Doucette. Sullivan, Beale and MerriInan were disabled. The Indians, barring Cayon. whose head was slightly hurt, remained intact and apparently as frisky at the end of play as at the beginning. The line up was as follows.
