One of Cuddeback’s place kicks was sensational shot from the 43-yard line. The game was the most exciting with in the memory of old graduates and regular fans. It kept the crowd-in size a record for any sporting event in the history of the west-at a fever heat of excitement. Great Crowd The tremendous crowd Overflowing the stadium, which has been fitted to accommodate 76,000, trickled upon the hillsides until every perspective of the big bowl was black with cheering watchers. It was well nigh faultless football but the most bored spectator could not have asked for a better exhibition. Fumbles were few and not costly. It was meeting of two powerful, fighting elevens that had raised the game to an art. The first half closed with Stanford, ahead, six to nothing the two place kicks. The California bears proceeded to wipe out the field with 0 bunch of Cardinals that looked sud denly helpless. Touchdowns were made one, two, three. But the Cardinals had renaissance. They began throwing wide and tricky forward passes, the bewildered cowd saw the score creep up until the score was tie. Sanford Has Edge Throughout the first half Stanford had a decided edge but during the sec ond Stanford had the ball ill CalifOr- nia territory nearly the whole time and it was only by super human effort that the Cardinals pushed across the tieing scores. The result of the game leaves the coast conference title in doubt In the face of the record Stan ford has an edge because it has, won every game except the tie game today, while California has the additional tie game with Washington. Stanford and California are the only undefeated team in the conference.
