lF0oTBALLGOLF IENNISB0xING SPORT! SPORT S| NOTRE DAME COMET CRUSHES PRINCETON Knute Rockne’s Vaunted Attack Flashes Bril- liantly And Tigers Are Beaten, l2-O Hoosiers completed the throws, long gain was in order. Rockne used his classical foursouie as much as was possible. Most of the Notre Dame. plays were wide around end. with one of the quartet carrying the ball and gaining almost at will. Crowley Again Goes Over It was in the fourth period that Jim Crowley made the Westerners score rise to l2, as he raced across the field for the second touchdown, after Notre Dame had placed the ball on Prince tons seyen-yard line with Layden’ s wide end runs. There was not Tiger tackler in Crowleys way as he made the seven-yard run for his score, but nCain Crowley was unable to make the point after touchdown, this time Cap tain Stout blocking the placement kick. The Blue and Gold team marched down the field steadily, earning first downs consistently. During the 6O-min- ute period, the Tigers were held by the Great Western line and were able to gain only three first downs, while the Notre Dame team crashed through Bill Roper’s men for % 10-yard gains. Ali last week, Roper,s team was matching up new plays in secret prac. tice, and even, thaough they were of no avail in holding back the heavy Hoosier team, the Westerners found stronger opposition this year than in 1923 when they defeated the Tigers 9 to 3, Princeton formed a block de- fense against their opponents today, bringing all the backs nearer the line. this made heavier defense than prince ton has been able to put against any team so far this year. Roper also had his tackles play well out, but this did not stop the famous Blue and Gold end runs.
