Army Colgate and Dartmouth Face Big Test His Saturday Only Big Eastern Teams Not Scored Upon-Cor- nell’s Great Record Is BrOken-Harvard Team Looks Good. By The Associated Press. New York, Oct. 13.-Army, Col gate and Dartmouth, the only three prominent eastern football clcvens which have won all of their games without an opponet crossing their goal line, will meet opponents cap able of smirching their records next Saturday. Dartmouth will go to New Haven to meet a Yale team which had diff ficulty in defeating Georgia by ‘ to score, and which appeared to be below the standard of the great eleven Of last season. Colgate, with Tryon again starring, will roll out across the pfairies to Lincoln for a battle with Nebraska, defeated Sat urday by Oklahoma, but always a severe opponent in an intcrsectional game at home. Army will come to the Polo Grounds to meet Knute Rockne’a Blue Comet of Notre Dame in the annual classic. The cadets, with Harry Wilson, Penn State star, add ed to Wood and Hewitt in the back field, and boosting an all-star cen- ter trio of Captain Garbisch, Far wick and Ellinger, had only a prac- tice workout in winning from De- trot Saturday, 20 to 0. Cornell gambled and lost in the defeat by Williams which ended an unbroken string of 26 victories over more than three seasons. With the score tied at z to in the final quar- ter, the Ithacans tried a pass in their own territory in an attempt to turn the tie into a win but Williams intercepted and went on to a II to ‘ triumph. The Big Red faces a veteran Rutgers team. Navy, smothered by Marquette speed in the final quarter for a 23 to 8 defeat, and Princeton, held to a co tie by strong Lehigh eleven which constantly threatened the goal in the second half, will meet at Princeton. Neither team appeared to have reached form which would make 1t a dangerous contender for eastern honors. Harvard, with power lacking in the 1923 backfield restored by Irwin Gehrke, a star of 1922 not available last season, appeared to be the best of the big throe in its 16–6 triumph over practically the same Middlebury team which held it to 6 to tic last season. The Crimson faces Holy Cross this week. Columbia hinted at the firm root Ing of Percy Haughtons system in 35 to win from Wesleyan and will receive it’s first real test when it meets Penn which won from Swarthmore 25 to 7.
