CHOCTAWS WEAK FOR BAMA GAME Many Injuries Will Han- dicap Mississippi Eley- en Saturday CLINTON, Miss, Oct. S.-(Special.) The Choctaws of Mississippi college are now recuperating from the battle waged against the Greenies of Tulane univer- sity of New Orleans last Saturday. Since Monday they have been entering upon and engaging in scrimmages and work outs in preparation for the tilt with the Crimson Wave of the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa Saturday. The Tribesmen of Coach Bohler’s az gregation displayed good football against the Green Wave Saturday, especially during the first half when they sur prised Coach Shaughnessy by holding his men with perfect ease for one en- tire half, and by registering the greater end of 7–6 margin during the first lap of the game. They faltered under the mighty and superior Greenie attack during the concluding half though. and were the victim of tremendous defeat at the hands of the Greenbacks for 32–7 score. Coach Bohler’s good little team outplayed the Greenie outfit dur ing the first half, but were completely outclassed during the other half by Tu- lanes big team. Stars Are Hurt The Tulane game proved to be very severe one for the Indians, for several, and, in fact, most of our best men were knocked out of the game-some for the entire season. During the first quarter, the Tribesmen suffered the loss of two of their very best and most hopeful men. Long, Mississippi college, healthy and line -plunging fullback. was retired from the game within the first quarter, how ever, his injury was not so fatal that it would fail to keep him from the Ala bama tilt. It is believed that he will be in a condition to line up against the Crimson Wave, but in case he cannot Pearce, a utility full of two years ex- perience, will be the next resort. Sheffield, for three seasons the pivot warrior for the Choctaws, was likewise retired from the game during the first quarter, and there is serious doubt that he will be in the lineup Saturday at Tuscaloosa. In this event, it is certain that Lorance will take his place in the lineup. Sweeney Out The most serious injury sustained by the Tribesmen was the blow received by Sweeney, the Indians dependable half, with his brightest season ahead of him, when he received on the last lap of the game an injury, which, physi- clans say, will keep him.out of the fray for the remainder of the season. This injury no doubt will mean very grave setback in the possibilities of victory of the Indians in the tilt Saturday. How ever, the Chcctaws have been the recip- tent of one very encouraging hope for the Alabama fray in the return of White, great warrior of the team of 1921, piloted by the famous Goat” Hale of all-Southern distinction.
