the Army, to 8. while Notre Dame defeated the soldiers, 12 to g. The Syracuse Nebraska game this week will furnish still another East-West comparison. Nebraska lost to Notre Dame, 14 to g, but tied Minnesota which won three conference games and lost two, and In recent Saturdays Nebraska added Kansas and Missouri to its victims. All of which demon strates that Syracuse will undergo another severe test on Thursday. Rutgers UphoIds the East Nobly. While Indiana was sliding Syracuse down the sluiceway of defeat, Rut- gers was nobly upholding the prestige of the East in its 28 to triumph over Northwestern. The teams from Evanston, III, had won only one of its five Conference games, it is true, but the emphatic manner in which Rut- gers outclassed it in all departments of play adds a strong point to tho Eastern argument. However, with games as few as they are between the two sections, comparisons are | more or less fruitleSs. t.. 1 Lafayette and Lehtgh both ap- 1 preached their annual encounter with | highly commendable records for the season. A hard game was anticipat- ed and hard game was played, with the decision left to the final moments of the second half. Weldon enacted much the same role for Lafayette as the iliustrious Casey did for Harvard. Although losing to Stevens, well as In it’s three earliest contests of the faa’ New York univerity realized its principal ambition when 1t defeated l oh a3y, Cam and the rest of the New York University outfit deserve full meas- ure of appreciation for developing a team so hard-fghting. Columbia dis played the faults that have retarded her progress all season. seeming to. lack confidence in her potential ca pacity and delaying her forcing tac- tics in open play until too late to make anything better than a fair showing against the old enemy. Col. umbia can hardly hope to do more than keep Browne’s score fairly well down when the two meet on Turkey | Day. If the Blue and White expects 1 to revert next season to the sort of schedule played in Sanford’s day, something revolutionary will have to be done with the system of developing the excellent material that is likely to be at its disposal 1 The Stevens Tech football team took high rank among the smaller college elevens when 1t completed it’s record of an undefeated season by a one-sided victory over the Worcester Poly Stevens also placed to its cred 1t the achievement of allowing only five points to be scored against 1t aur- ing the season. A safety was tailed against it in the Rhode Island State game and a goal from the field by New York University, but its goal lire was not crossed by rushing Coach Durburow and Captain Bloss may I congrat ulate themselves and their men upon a performance like that. Browns Score is Kept Low. After defeating Dartmouth, Brown had a harder time than was expect ed in conquering New Hampshire state by the close score of to 0. New Hampshire had stron gteam this Fall and, until its encounter with Maine, seemed to have a clear call for > the, pionship of the state uni- versailles of New England. The University of Pittsburgh per- formed according to Hoyle in trim ming Carnegie Tech, and West Vir- ginia and Washington and Jefferson were both easy victors over much weaker opponents: Georgetown’s de- feat of Washington and Lee compli- cated the situation among the South Atlantic teams Washington and Lee beat Georgia Tech 3 to 0, Geor- gia Tech overwhelmed Georgetown 27 to O, and Geo: ‘etown Vanquished Washington and Lee 27 to 6. state of affairs that might be utilized to prove almost anything. Swarthmore had an easy time beating its old riv- al. Haverford, and Bucknell was an- l other team that came through with an expected victory over Susquehan- l ma. Rensselaer, and Union, old up- | state rivals battled to a scoreless tie.
