Eli Campbell arrived at Wofford from Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach. Against Elon on October 10, the defensive back from Sanford, Florida, came away with 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery while the Terriers kept the scoreboard at zero.
Wofford won 16–0. Campbell added 7 tackles, and all 3 of his takeaways came in Elon territory. On one interception, he returned the ball 35 yards to the 4-yard line, setting up a second-quarter field goal. The performance brought both Southern Conference and Stats Perform national defensive honors.
Wofford’s biography credits Campbell with 4 defensive touchdowns and 8 forced fumbles during his Seabreeze career. Finding the ball was part of his game before college. Now a shutout has put that habit on a national stage, with Sanford and Seabreeze still part of the story.
