PENN AND DARTMOUTH PLAYED TIE GAME, Contest Full of ThriIIs-FumbIe Gave Green Players Their Touchdown. In the most sensa tiona1 game play on Franklin Field this year, Pennsyl- vania and Dartmouth had to quit with the score tie at to T. The first half ended with neither team able to score, although the Red and Blue had much the better attack and showed stronger defence. A tumble by Light. the Quaker full back, gave Dartmouth its touch down. The Quakers were marching steadily up the field in the third pe- riod, when Light, who had shot through the line for a gain of five yards, dropped the ball. It rolled clear of the mass of players, when Captain Gerrish took it on the pound and aft CT shaking off two Penn tackles, com pleted a 35-yard run for a touch- down. He followed this up by kick ing the goal. It was not until the fourth period that Penn could even up the score. The Quaker attack was speeded up by the substitution of Berry for Williams in the backfeld and with Bell at quarter back in place of Bryant who was in jured. On end runs and line plunges the Quakers advanced from their own forty-yard mark to Dartmouth’s thir- ty-yard line. Here they were tempor- arfly checked. Berry went back as though to try for @ field goal. Instead he shot into the line and emerged of tackle. He shook off two Dartmouth men, and with a brilliant burst of speed lodged his way through a field of tackles making the touchdown in the extreme corner of the field. He punted out successfully and Quigley kicked t : the the goal which made the Both teams played furiously for the rest of the period. but neither could score.
