PENN CONQUERS WOLVERINES IN BITTER BATTLE Bob FaIWell’s Men Nose Out a Victory at Ann ArbOr Ann Arbor, Mich, Nov. 1S.-It takes lust about no time at all to tell the story of the NEUTRALITY-SUSPICIOUS. game played here to-day. So far as actual results go, it was all over just after the start of the second period, though the score, which then read 10 for Pennsylvania and none for Michigan, was later changed by the addition of a Wolverine tally. 1t was Berry’s touchdown and Berry’s goal that did the trick for the Fasteners, but victory came only after one of the finest and hardest fought battles ever seen on Ferry Field Penn grabbed the game in the first period. although the second tally goes into the succeeding quarter. The Phil adelphans’ touchdown came right off the reel. After the kickoff Berry, with the wind at his back, punted to Michigan’s 3O-yard line. Sparks tried to run the ball from punt formation, slipped and was nailed by Miller He then punted to Berry, on the Michigan A. yard line. A Poor Effort The kick was low, wabbly and none too good-in no way up to the stand ard OF Sparks’s work. 1t left the Mich igan ends up In the air. and Berry got a good start. The “Pennsylvsnia Limited” ran straight down the sidellhe. and IL looked like a touchdown, until Sparks and Maulbetsch got In his way and downed him on the 1o-yard line. Derr and Berry plunged for three yards apiece, and then Derr made 1t a first down, with less than a yard to 60 for goal. A Shirtless Score Berry rounded Peach’s end and got his shirt torn off by Sparks, but scored the touchdown, and Derr kicked goal. Getting the ball on punt toward the end In this quarter, Penn carried the ball to where Berry had an easy chance at goal when the second quarter started. The third period ended in wild exelement, few inches separating Mich igan from a touchdown and one down in which to get it. But the locals lacked the punch. and the period ended. In the fourth period Michigan took the opposite goal, and the ball was placed in front Of Pennsylvania goal line. On the first play Sparks gave the ball to Smith and he plunged over. Maulbetsch kicked goal. The rest Of the game was hard, unrequited football. Michigan tried hard, but could not tally again. Ferry Field was packed TO its utmost with a crowd estimated at $4,000.
