  ALABAMA BARELY WINS. Noses Out Victory Over Sewanee By Score of 7 to 6. , BIRMINGHAM, Ala. November 4.-The University of Alabama today elimina ted the Sewanee eleven from the southern championship race by winning a brilliant victory over the Tennessee boys in u thrilling contest, Z to 6. Sewanee was on the defensive throughout the game. - Its touchdown, made in the first period, was gained after Green, for Alabama, had fumbled a punt. kicked from Alabama’s 20-yard line. Sellars. for Sewanee,- got away for a 2O-yard dash and bucked the ball for touchdown in the next two plays. Clarke failed to kick goal Ala bama scored touchdown and goal early in the fourth period, after beautiful forward pass, Green to Boone. which netted the Alabamians 35 yards, Burnett carried the ball over and Gage kicked goal. The remainder of the period was a punting duel, punctured by a seriesr of center drives by Alabama. The feature of the game was AlabaI1a’s successful forward passes and open ,,1ays which netted them big gains. Sewanee. however, showed superior strength In the close plays, and twice held the Alabama boys, when the latter were but a yard or two from goal Green.
