TUFTS AND SWARTHMORE USED SOFT PEDAL; SURPRISED FOES; NOW THEY’RE DISCOVERED Victories Over Harvard and Lafayette Have Aroused Opponents and Hard Games Are Card for Tomorrow; Penn Faces Test posite 20 those at Harvard last week. Speedy Rush and his cluster OF coaches know what they arc going up against and have put the men IN shape for hard game. They know that Tufts has n shift play similar to the old Minnesota formation, and their players have been taught TO meet H. swarthmore, too. rehearsed In the dark. and had Lafayette hanging on tho ropes before the players knew what had happened. Croweil’s men imagined they would have a soft snap with the Little Quakers. but did not discover their mistake until Il was too late. II was a glorious victory for the Garnet. and few bouquets must be hurled In Bin Roper’s direction. Roper has been coaching the team only few weeks. but IN that time has taught the men lots Of football Ills squad Is not NO large. but the players know the game, play together. and when they line up against Penn tomorrow a hard battle may be expected But here we have another Tufts-Princeton stunt. Bob Folwell knows that Swarthmore must have a fairly decent team or IL couldn’t triumph over Lafayette That being the case. he has his men primed for battle. and Il should be one OF the best staged on Franklin Field in years. Swarthmore has defeated Penn couple Of times and has no fear Of the larger university. The Garnet always puts up n good hght and Il In cer-. tain that there win be no let-down tomorrow.
