NORTH CAROLINA Is EASY FOR PRINCETON SOutherncrs, Outclassed From Start, Are Defeated by Score Of 20 to q. TIGER SUBS ARE USED PRINCETON, “. J.. Oct. lin 4 game which amounted TO little more than q practice contest for the TIGER eleven. Princeton defeated North Carolina 20 to 0 this afternoon on University Field. The Southerners we’re simply outclaesed. and II was undoubtedly within the power Of the Tigers to run the score up to much larger figures had not Coach Rush valued the opportunity Of trying out all his sub stitutes more highly than the acquisition OF a huge score. Before the game was finished every one OF the thirty-one men who wore the Princeton uniform on the field had been given a chance to show his worth under IRE. The result was interesting. In that II showed that there is a wealth Of ma terial available for Rush to pick from anw that the makeup Of the team II far from settled. In the hrst quarter. largely because Of their freshness and strength and h fact that the Tigers tried the straight football game. the North Carolina eleven sue ceeded in holding Princeton scorelcss. but with the progress Of the second period the visitors power failed rapidly. and before the half was over the Tigers had crossed their goal line on two occaiOns. Display Brilliant Football. At the outset Of the second half Rush started In on his programme Of substituton. and despite the fact that the personnet of the team was being constantly shifted there was n good deal Of scoring and brilliant football shown In the third quarter on the part Of the Princeton team. Brown broke loose for a series Of long runs In this period. and Funk kicked a goal from placement on the IS yard line. Shortly after he also caught an IS yard pass hurled by Eddy, and rushed ffteen yards through the North Carolina team for a touchdown. Eddy seemed to carry the ball at will ana his spectacular runs were second only to Browns. Bill Moore’s abso nee was scarcely missed. for almost n set Of backs Rush sent In was able to over the North Carolina defence. Moore was on the side lines. though not in unit form. He appears TO ave recovered from the injury sustained In Thursday = The last quarter was barren as far as scoring was concerned. largely because the substitutions were too fire. quent to permit Of n concerted team work. Tiger Line shows strength. The Princeton line held s%plendidly and formed the basis OF the brilliant work Of the backfeld men. The Tigers interfered wei. n the ends were al ways down under the hall. Funk. in played a brilliant game n; end. The Tigers tried forward passes The locals met with success in about half OF their attempts and these successful heaves played “A large part in the scotlnr. How we’ll The Tigers will show against stronger opposition than that afforded by the North Carolina eleven is a matter OF conjecture. but the brand Of football, displayed to-day was far ahead Of that shown at the rorresponding time last year. briggs and Amcs both booted the hall well. briggs has not yet reached the height of his form and his work was n trife ragged Judged by the standard he set last year. but Ames has shown n great Improvement over his former work. The lineup

Princeton defeated the University of North Carolina foot ball team here today by score of 20 to 0. After Princeton had run up safe number of points on the southern eleven Coach Rush of Princeton sent in string OF substitutes. The only time in the game that the visitors were able to hold the Tigers In check was in the final period of play, when the Princeton eleven was made up entirely of second and third team players. Although the game was one-sided II was replete with sensational plays. In the second half Jack Eddy was USED in the Princeton lineup in the place OF Ames and made several 30 and 40 yaro runs through broken fields. he also threw a forward pass 20 yards INTO the arms of Funk, a Princeton END IN the third period which resulted In touchdown. ,,, tn princeton played poor foot pan III the first period.
