AUBURN SHOWS WONDERFUL FORM AND EASILY WINS Nothing But Straight Football UsedCoach Donahue Uses En- tire Squad-End Runs of Wren and Prendergast Feat ure-Mercer Puts Up Hard Fight Auburn, November 6.-(Special.) )-Au- burn defeated Mercer 45 to 0 here today in a game which was hard fought, and in which neither side employed anything but straight football. Only four forward passes were attempted, Mercer failing in three and Auburn trying one which Mer- cer intercepted Despite the fact that nothing but straight football was used the game was exciting and thrilling because of the ex- cellent runs made by Prendergast and Wren. Prendergast once returned punt for 45 yards and touchdown and also rounded letf end for 4O-yard gain once. Wren made two 40-yard plunges off cen ter, once for touchdown and carrying the ball to Mercer’s two-yard line once, but the half ended at this minute and Auburn did not have another play to carry the ball across. Mercer fought hard throughout, but never had a chance at any period. She made three first downs, two coming on end runs by Quarterback Swan, who was the star of the Mercer offense. Auburn started her regular lineup with the exception of Ducote, Hairston ana Caughman, who witnessed the game from the side lines, but before the game ended they had used every man on the Varsity squad. The victory, while not as large as might have been expected, is nevertheless satis- flying to Auburn followers as it was the fifteenth game since Auburn had been scored upon in any manner
