PENN PICKS LINEUP RETRIEVE DEFEAT BY F. & M. LAST YEAR Quakers Stand Pat on Selections of Albright Fracas for Big Gridiron Bat tie Here Tomorrow BERRY AT QUARTERBACK On account of a wet field and the expectation of a hard game tomorrow with Franklin and Marshall the University of Pennsylvania football team was spared the scrimmage with the scrub eleven this afternoon. The first eleven merely had the usual preliminary practice and then ran through signals. while the second team had the fun of scrimmaging with the scrubs late in the afternoon. The coaches have decided to stand pat on the same lineup used against AL bright on Wednesday. The Albright team was so weak that they were unable to get an accurate line on the work of the men. But they expect to get 1t tomorrow against Franklin and Marshall. The Lancaster team, with virtually all of the veterans who last year trounced the Quakers 100, is reported to be look ing for another victory. The coaches hope it will be an even fight, or at least that f. and NJ. will be strong enough to make the Quakers extend themselves. The coaches are not yet satisfied that they have the proper backfield combination. They believe that Howard Berry is their best quarterback and that Quigley has the making of great fullback. In Berry’s case the coaches want to see him do more interference for his team mates. Berry has never been taught the sort of interference the Quaker coaches want, and they propose to watch his work in this particular most care fully. Harry Ross and “Heine” Miller are the only injured men on the squad. Ross has a slightly infected hand and other minor injuries, and he will be spared until the State game next week. Miller is still hobbling about on crutches. The lineup for tomorrow’s game will be as follows:

PENN’S SCORE $50 AGAINST ALBRIGHT Red and Blue Team Rips TIP Line. Skirts Ends and Uses Delayed Pass. EISTER GETS OFF PUNTS PHILADELPHIA. Sept. 2e.-The coaches gave the University of Pennsylvania football team free rein this afternoon In the game ut Franklin Field with Al bright, and the Red and Blue smothered Its opponents by the score OF 60 to y. The Pennsylvania team certainly locke good In action. whesher 1t was that AL bright was very poor or PENNSYLVANIA very good is a question. The l.. of l.. offence ripped up the opposing line and tore around the ends Invariably for substantial gains. Do layed passes worked well. and even the risky forward pass was completed six times out OF eight frye. All were for gains Of from fifteen to thirty yards. The Interference picked of the Albright primary defence with ease. Albright made but one first down dur Ing the game and scarcely any other noticeable gains. The Quaker llnenen ripped through the Albright line almost before the quarterback. Eyster. could pass the ball to the backs. When he punted 1t was always with several men charging at him, and although he got his kicks OF remarkably well three were blocked. So many substitutions were made in the Pennsylvania team that several OF the best players did not AVE a real chance. However. WEIGH. Quigley and Uruuhart were shining lights on both the offence and defence. Eyster saved the Albright goal line time and again. n considering the fact hat he had little or no help played as good a game a. any man on the field. The lineup:

Penn Beats Albright Eleven By Big Score Philadelphia, Pa.s Sept. 30.s# AL sbright’s eleven proved a big disap- pointment to the coaches of the Penn sylyania football team. In the only nidweek contest on the Penn sched- uIe here yesterday afternoon, the Quakers, contrary to expectations, did not have to- exert thenselves to win in a Walkover by an overwhelming score of 63 to 0. With the exceptions of three chan ges. the Quakers lined up the same as against West Virginia last Satur- day. Howard Berry, Penn’s sensa- tionaI back, started the game at quar- ter in place of Bell, who later reliev- ed him. Last Saturday Berry played ful1back and did fine work, but the coaches decided he could do even better in his new position, and he showed that they did not err in their Judgment Owing to the shift, Billy Quigley started at fullback, and Vince Welch played right half, with Frank Tighe at left.
