BROWN AND HARVARD PLAY TO OSCORELESS TIE Crimson Second String Men in Line. up-Fumblins Mars Contest in the Big Stadium. ANAFN1Aa aAINAAA NAtNAAI Cambridge, Nov. 1l-rhe Harvard sub lstitutes had hard time Of 1t against Brown. as was expected. Prom Browns showing against Yale the previous week Il was figured that the game would be a close one. II was. Neither aide scored. Much er4ticfam has been made because Coach Haughton decided to play the sub stitute team against Brown. But he did 30 not because he held Brown lightly, for Brown always has q good team. but because he wanted his subs 10 have the experience Of playing through whole game and being able TO work when tired Moreover. Il gave an opportunity for some OF the coaches and frst string play ers TO watch YalGand Princeton play. Be cause. seeing Yale play. the Harvard men may better know how to meet them. So there really should be no criticism because the subs played against Brown instead Of the regular team Both BROWN and Harvard had good loffenses. but could never seem 70 get them going for any length OF time. There was much fumbling on the part Of Harward. which held us back q whole lot. Just when II seemed that olif ofEense was going right. some one would tumble. MANY SURPRISES IN REALM OF FOOTBALL Yesterday was a big day IN the realm of the football enthusiasts. Every Saturday is a big day. for that matter. and every Saturday of this season had proved TO be surprising In that the teams that the dopester had planned to win or lose, and lose by Impossible scores. 1t Is so now that no one can safely say who even might win. For instance, not many expected Clemson to beat V. M. /. at Broad street Park yesterday. 1t was true that Clemson had the heaviest team, but then the Cadets had fast men and they were playing nearer home than the Clemson eleven. Some fans are prone to believe that when team is away from home they play better or just as good as on their home field but this is not SO. At least so far as the majority of scores show that Is not the case. Another surprise. and which. by the way. was in keeping with the large scores this season made by Virginia, was the defeat by that team Of Swarthmore by a score Of Al to 0. Swarplmore is one of the largest coll leges In Pennsylvania and has team that ranks very high. tThlS paragraph was not put IN to brighten Carolina rooters.) Michigan has been one Of the tough est propositions that Eastern elevens have had to face for long time Harvard managed to defeat them by pae diminutive score of to 0. Yes terday Cornell defeated the western ers, IS to 10. Stories OF the game show that it was a great game. for the Ithacans. 1t was a great day for Yale yesterday. The ELI team celebrated the occupation OF their new concrete stadium by defeating Princeton, 10 to IA. before $4,000 people. Brown University marvclously held Harvard’s line yesterday and the New Hayeners could not score. Neither could the Brownmen. BY way Of showing that Yale fresh men are fresher than Harvard fresh men. the Eli beiligerents won from their opponents yesterday, IA to 6. Washington and Jefferson kept up their winning streak by defeating. by So to 6, Wesleyan yesterday. Proving that the sun is good for growth the University OF Cleveland team defeated Shady Side yesterday. 54 to O. Following is list OF the’results Of important Ipolpdii games uIlIouSnout the country.
