YALE ELEVEN TRIMS SYRACUSE TEAM Old Eli Erases Memory of Last Season. New Haven, Oct by defeating syracuse by a score Of u to to-day Yale erased the memory OF last years game when the Syracusians managed to score two field goals. To-day the visitors from the Salt City managed to get inside the Yale 3o-yard line only once, muffed punt by fnilbin giving them life the first period, which they failed to improve Yale scored twelve points Capt. Arthur Howe lifting two clever field goals between the posts and Ketcham, the CEN ter rush, falling on the ball behind the Syracuse goal after Reilly had fumbled Syracuse quarter back, really made this score possible by muffing a punt at Syracuse’s 30-yard line. Capt. Howe and Anderson scored 7-yard plunges, taking the ball to the shadow of the Syracuse goal Capt. Howe’s fine field goal was Yale’s only scoring Of the first half. In the second half Yale played resist less football and scored twice on a touchdown by Ketcham and Capt. Howe’s field goal from the 4S-yard line, which was the prettiest piece Of toe work exhibited at Yale Field this season. The angle was difficult and the Yale crowd roared as the ball sailed through the posts. Capt Howe’s generalship. his handling of punts, and his end runs were half the Yale game. Bill Howe’s end rush playing was spectacular. He twice recovered the ball on Syracuse fumbles. Probst and Capt. Fogg were the stellar performers for Syracuse.
