FOOTBALL INTEREST CENTERED IN MICHIGAN MINNESOTA GAME diets a very close game, with the odds | slightly favoring Michigan. Sig Harris the Minnesota coach who | saw the Michigan Penn game last sat urday is of the opinion that Michigan was at it’s top form in that contest and is likely TO be a little stale” tomorrow. Harold Titus football expert of the Detroit News expects Michigan TO win. j. II. Richie sporting writer for the Minneapolis Journal favors the Co pliers. Coach Williams of the Minnesota team believes that the plays which made such a reversal Of form for Yale against Princeton last Saturday can not fail TO be effective against the Wolverines and looks for victory. Many sporting writer’s of repute are predicting that the score will be tie. There is considerable local interest In the result of tomorrow’s game and number of large bets have been rerorded. Sentiment seems to be about evenly divided between the teams. None of the local fans have found it possible TO attend. For Eastern Supremacy. Thousands of followers of the blue and crimson are gathering at New Haven for tomorrow’s Yale Harvard game. Every train from the east and west brought it’s quota of enthusiasts. Practically every ticket for the field / has been disposed of, and the Yale stands are sure to hold n record breaking crowd tomorrow. Harvard | is favorite in the wagers, some bets / at odds of nearly To 1 being offered on her chances. However, the uneXpected showing made by Yale in the struggle with Princeton last Saturday has made some of the betters cautious and the Yale end will not lack for hackers. 1t is freely predicted that before the game the odds will stand about to 4. or 5 to 3. Syracuse illinois. Probably the most interesting game outside of the two above mentioned will be the contest between Illinois and Syracuse at Urbana. This contest is the only intersectional scrap OF the day. Illinois has not been defeated this season, and has some claim upon the conference title. although the eXperts who have seen the two teams play almost unanimously give the plum to the Gophers. The scores between Illinois and Syracuse and Mich igan and Syracuse will afford a gooc basis for comparison between Michi’ gan and Illinois. Wisconsin Chicago. The winner of the Chicago Wiscon’ sin game will probably rank thir6 among the conference colleges of the west and interest in this contest Is not as keen as i’m other years.

YALE SURPRISES PRINCETON TEAM Eli Warriors 0utpIay Tigers in Every Department and Tri- umph by Score of 5–3 PRINCETON, N. j., Nov. 12.-Yale S, Princeton 8. The Princeton football eleven today lost an opportunity to end the season without defeat and possibly without being scored on. They lacked aggressiveness. Princeton was out played in every department of the game with the possible exception Of kicking, Ballou’s high spirals carrying farther than those Of Howe, the Yale crack. Had it not been for the fun bling of Daily in the first period the home eleven would have been unable to get close enough to Pendleton to try for goal from placement. Pendleton was the disappointment of the game. But his failure to. shine was no fault Of the Tiger halfback. Compared with Yales interference, Princeton’s was infantie. The Yale ends broke through the Princeton line time again and threw Pendleton before he could get started. On the other hand, Yale’s line was her strongest point. Princeton’s line was weak, sew eral Of Ballous kicks being blocked and Yale’s only score being indirectly due to one of Ballou’s failures. Aside from the forward pass there were no new football evolutions. Yale’s best ground gamer was the fake kick. The forward pass which enabled Yale to turn defeat into victory was beautifully executed. Yale had worked within twenty yards of the Princeton goal Howe dropped to one side and sent the ball directly into Kilpatricks 8 hands on the Princeton goal line. Princeton scored a goal from place ment q few minutes after play began in the opening period The opening lineup was:

WONDERING About it. PRINCETON N. j., Nov. l2.--The Princeton Tigers will have to wait at least another year before filling taeir nav with Yale bulldog meat. And there BY hangs the tale of the bitterest football disappointment ever suffer ed by the Jersey men. Yale has beat en- Princeton oftentimes before, but by all the football gods this was prlncetons year and to have the cup OF victory dashed away just as it was being pressed to the lips was a little too much for even the stout-hearted Jungle men and they are still asking tonight how it happened.
