MANY SURPRISES IN FOOT ton, the fleet Princeton half-Dack, raced 20 yards across the gridiron this al ternoon for the first touchdown the Tigers have scored against the Green in two years. Pendleton kicked the goal. Dartmouth was unable to keep the ball in the Princeton territory during the remainder of the game, and one of the best contests Of the eastern football season closed with the score: Princeton 6; Dartmouth 0. While the game was marked by number Of sensational end PUSHES by both the Princeton and the Dartmouth backs, the greater part of the play was centered about the almost phe’ nomenal punting of lngersoll and Bal loux, the two rival quarter-backs. The two lines held their opponents like iron, and most of the ground gained was by long open rushes-the prime object of the new football rules.

PRINCETON DEFEATS PORTSMOUTH TEAM Polo Grounds, New York, October % The clean record of Dartmouth’s swift and rugged football eleven was smirched for the first time this season when Pen dleton, the fleet Princeton halfbacb, raced 70 yards across the gridiron for the first touchdown the Tigers have scored against the Green in two years. Pendleton kicked goal. Dartmouth was unable to keep the ball in the Princeton territory during the remainder of the game and one of the best contests of the eastern football sea son closed with the score Princeton 6. Dartmouth 0. The game means much for the wearers of the Orange and Black for they have not only wiped out defeat from the New England boys in 1908 and the tie score of last year, but have gained confidence for the big Yale game.
