VERMONT TESTS CORNELL CADETS HAVE EASY TINE Lehigh Finds Army Line lmpreg- nabIe and Fails to Score. West Point. y. Y Oct. 22-With the field slippery and a drizzlinE rain falling, max ing the handling Of the ball difficult, the West Point team defeated Lehigh here to-day by a score Of 2S to O. Lehigh could do nothing with the Army line and only twice got the ball as far as the Army 3O-yard line. Once Knox gave the cadets a fright when he got around left end and ran twenty-five yards 10 the Army 30-yard line before Brown brought him down. Late in the last period they again recovered a tumble on the Army’s thirty. but were unable TO advance The Army ends were down under the punts in great style. and many times re covered Deans punt after Lehigh fumbIed. The ouside kick, too. was sreat ground gamer for the Army to-day, and they successfully worked the forward lass for good gains The visitors fought shy Of the long pass and tried the delayed pass with fairly good results early in the game Rorse. the I,ehieh left end. was the star of that team. and on the defence spoiled more of West Points plays than any other man. Brown and Deans work IN running through broken fields bordered on the spectacular The Army started scoring few minutes after the game started, after Dean had kicked to LehiEh Dobbins fumbled a delaved pass from Heard and Surles cathered In the ball for q touchdown Dean kicked the goal In the second quarter Brown got around left end for a 65-yard run and would nave scored had not Heard raced after and ptI1Ied him down from behind on the I-yard mark Surles went through centre on the next play The remainder a the Arny’s score was the result Of the 1umbles, placing the soldiers in position 10 score

KAVANAUGH’S REPORT PROVES THAT BIRMINGHAM is BACKBONE OF SOUTHERN ASSOCIATION ARMY VICTORIOUS OVER LEHIGH TEAM West Point. N. Y, October 22.-The Army football team swept the Lehigh boys before 1t today and showed them under by score of % to 0. The visitors never had a chance and never threatened the Army goal. Because of wet field and a drizzling rain there were many fumbles. the majority OF which were recovered by the cadets, who were thus enabled on several occasions to storm the visitors goal line for points.
