DENVER NOT IN GOOD FORM Defeat by Haskell Promises Victory for Nebraska. RENDERS WORK SHOWS UP WELL valley Championship N Now Lie W Missouri and kansas EIevens-Missouri Next Year. LINCOLN. Nov. n-Cspecial)-Denver’s defeat. the second one in two years, by Johnny Bender’s Haskell indian at the Colorado capital yesterday, adds interest 70 the Thanksgiving day game between the C”ornhuskers and the redskins; but does not detract from the contest that will take place between the Nebraska eleven and the Denverites I’m the western city next Saturday. II has been the general opinion in west ern foot ball circles this fall that Denver was altogether too strong for the Has kells, and that Koehler’s aggregation would eat up the Bender braves. There had been, in fact, no doubt of this I’m the minds OF the Cornhusker students. and the out come Of the game yesterday was a big surprise TO the local camp. That Denver was not In form and played much inferior ball TO the standard 1t set early in the fall is the verdict that has been given here. as the cause for its defeat, and the feeling is hi the pupils OF Deacon Koehler will come up under the sting Of defeat and play so fierce a game against the C-ornhuskers next Saturday that Coles men will be defeated. Before the Haskell game there was much confidence in the Colorado eleven’s strong hold: was so overbearing, indeed, that, together with the effects of a hard schedule, II resulted in the downfall Of Denver’s favorites. Denver and the Mines. The Saturday before the Haskell game the Denver eleven had met the School OF Mines eleven In one OF the toughest games played IN the west this fall, and the result Of the Haskell game indicates that the Ministers we’re badly battered up In the Mines struggle, so that they could not play up to standard against the In dians. The unexpected blow delivered by the HaskslIs viii spur the Denver players on and they are very likely to come back at the “Cornhuskers, playing the fierces’ kind OF foot ball and making the Nebraska men bear the brunt of considerable rough work. Reports OF the game at Denver are tC the effect that the indian opened large holes in Denver’s lines. II this was the case the Ministers will have to brace w their forward before Saturday or elsC the cornhuskers will rip up the Denver defense like a shredded wheat biscuit. Tn, Nebraska players have not met theii match in the line this fall-Minnesota Iowa and Kansas all had inferior for wards-and they will be able to make i’m mense gains through a weak line. The heavy rain OF Friday and Saturday put Nebraska field in such a sloppy condl tion that IT cannot be used for practici this week and “King’‘ Cole will be forced TO take his proteges to the state farm 70, practice. This will be done tomorrow
