  MISSOURI TIGERS SCORED AGAINST Contest with Monmouth College Loosely Played. COLUMBIA, Mo-, Oct. Especial y Coach Roper’s Missouri Tigers defeated the Monmouth college eleven on Rollins field today In a loosely played game, IL to 6. The day was too hot for good foot ball and the game was delayed much by sub s~titution OF players and penalizing. The first half ended, 6 to 0, in Missourt’s ia Vor, and both teams scored touchdowns In the second half, that OF the Coilegians resulting from a flukey forward pass. Only seven plays were used by the Tigers and their over-anXiousness resulted In costly penalties. Straight foot ball. coupled with onside kicks, made up most OF missouH’s offensive play.   TIGERS DEFEAT MONMOUTH. In Opening Game Missouri Makes Fair Showing. Columbia, Mo-, Oct. 2.-Missouri defeated the Monmouth college football team by a score of II to in a hard fought game here yesterday. The COL legians equaled the Tigers in weight and with an advantage of three weeks training offered a stiff opposition to the Roper’s charges.
