CARLISLE BEATEN. Minnesota Walked Up and Used For ward Pass First Time This Year. Minneapolis, Nov. 23.-Showing the best form of the season and the best exhibition of the “open game” seen on Northrop field this year, Minnesota completely outplayed the Carlisle In dams at their own game and won by the score of II to 6. Minnesota used the forward pass oftener and with greater effect than the Indians. They made several forward passes of forty yards, and her two ftouchdowns were directly attributed to these plays. Minnesota also tore large holes in the Indian line and outplayed them on straight foot ball. Minnesota would have scored an other touchdown had the game lasted minute longer as the ball was on the Indians one foot line, with Minnesota tearing big holes in the Carlisle’s de- Tense, and with two chances to carry the ball over when time was called. The Indians were unable to elude the Minnesota ends on the forward pass and also fumbled frequently. After the first few attempts Minnesota easily solved Carlisle’s fake plays. Each team scored touchdown in the first half. Minnesota scored one touch down in the second half, but failed 10 kick goal. The Minnesota goal was never in danger in the second halt- Minnesota played throughout the game with the same lineup, while Carnsle made frequent changes, especially IN the second half. Hauser retired from the game in the second half with blood streaming down his face. Plankers, Johnston and Pettijohn played sensational football for Minnesota, While Hauser, Little Old Man and Thorpe starred for the Indians.

MINNESOTA DEFEATS CARLISLE Indians Are Completely Outclassed by the Brilliant Work of the Go pher Team. Minneapolis, Nov “a. - Northrop field was the scene yesterday of prob ably the most signal triumph of Uni versity Of Minnesota football team, when the Gophers defeated the famed Indians of Carlisle by score of II to 6. Twice defeated this season and hardly counted as factor in the game with the tricky redskins, the Gophers developed a new game of offense that completely swamped their opponents. The score Is not representative of the merits of the two teams as they play ed Saturday, for Carlisle was COM pletely Outclassed. When time was called and another touchdown only six inches away, Gopher enthusiasts in the stands broke into delirious shouts of joy. Minnesota scored first, and although Carlisle tied the county before the first half was ended, Minnesota dem onstrated superiority of attack and de- Tense that left the crowd GREATNESS to know how badly the Indians would be beaten. Then with the opening of the Sec ond half Pettijohn’s beautiful forward passes, the brilliant rushes around the ends by Lyle Johnston and the ter rifle line plunges of Plankers drove the Carlisle defense back to it’s goal line and Minnesota scored the winning touchdown. Working like a we’ll drilled machine the Gophers held any attempt on the part of the invaders to threaten their goal line, meanwhile continuing the varied attack on the fast weakening redskins till Carlisle was helpless and hopelessly beaten.
