WILLIAMS LADS Do GREAT WORK Minnesota Coach’s Scoring Ma chine Works to Perfection Nebraska’s Game Fight. All round superiority-that tell in .he fewest words why Minnesota de- ,eated Nebraska by the crushing score If 35 to 0 in yesterdays game on Northrop field. The score at the close If the play did not indicate the full lied several times when the ball was, within striking distance of the corn, iusker goal. 1t was the greatest victory any Min assota team has ever won over Ne D1aska, and Nebraska has a team that is generally conceded to be the best IL the history of the western unlversty. It was clean cut and not puchdown had the suggestion OF a iuke in connection with it. The play of the gophers was a com com Dlete vindication Of the trust placed In them by their friends after the defeat by Wisconsin two weeks ago.. The men had profted by the careful coach; 3ng Of DR.. Williams and Assistant ! Coach Dobie, and the coaches had braced up the weak spots in manner that proved the undoing of Nebraska. There had been distinct advance in the work during the week and the Min nesota machine struck with power and precision. It was the best football Minnesota has played since the Wisconsin game of year ago, and the vic, tory has proved one that has stirred no every bit of the enthusinasm that lay dormant af%er the defeat by the badgers. Nebraska cannot offer any excuse for the defeat. Neither have the follow ers of the cardinal and white any cause to- feel ashamed. Nebraska played better game in the second half than IN the first, and looked dangerous when OF the offense, at all times. The Min nesota scoring machine was in, won derful order, and the gophers had pos ession Of the ball most Of the time, It appeared that new life had entered ;he veins of every man on the Mime jota team and they played with fin Minnesota scot Together Minnesota went into the game with more confidence than was manifest II the Wisconsin game. It was far from an overconfdence, but the men seemed to have a sense Of power and a ‘ge1 together’ that was lacking when the badgers were encountered. The Nebraska team, on the other hand, ap peared to be struck with stage fright at the manner in which their opponen thew Caught more Of fgbting spirit and played harder and harder as the ! time passed. The gophers met speed with speed and power with power Nebraska was no such .weakllng a. the score would seem to indicate ant both teams appeared to be about on par 50 far as physical condition went Minnesota g offense was pleasing sur prise to the, followers of the team an the speed at which the team wor ked wa another cause for congratulation. < Nebraska. had powerful offense When the” cornhuskers had the ball tn Minnesota line was compelled the stan a severe pounding but the gopher back field performed heroically in backin I’D the line. The star performer in thi work was Ittner. When the play wa close to the sideline and line bucks G tries at the exposed end were impers tive, one of the backs went into tn line and “Bad Bill’ went back. H poised like a hawk and when the pla was directed into the line Ittne smashed into it with terrific speed an power. Minnesota 8 offense was bette much better than it’s defense. DR.. Wi liams had evidently coached his teal under the belief that strong offens Is the best defense-and the play { the afternoon showed that his theo1 was good. Set the ‘‘Home Crowd Crazy. Nebraska’s defense was powerle before the gopher assaults. The Mi nesota gains were heavy and oft repea ed. The gopher football was of tt nature to set Ehome crowd’ Graz with delight and the ten thousa1 spectators left the field singing II

MORE THAN MICHIGAN. Minnesota Defeats Nebraska by Big ger Score Than Wolverines Made. Minnesota Defeats Nebraska by Big ger Score Than Wolverines Made. Minneapolis. Mimi. Nov. 1s.-Minnesofa hammered the husky Nebraska football team for a total of IS points this afternoon, while the doughty Cornhuskers, who confidently anticipated a vic tory never got nearer the Minnesota goal than the 2O-yard line. Costly fun bling lost the Gophers two touchdowns but at that they exceeded the Michigan score Of 81 to 0. The entire Minnesota contingent enthused greatly over the game and their only regret was that the Gophers had not shown today’s form in the Wisconsin game. as it would have insured them the championship of the west. Minnesota confined itself largely to straight football, being content with short but certain gains through the line Occasionally Marshall and Cutting were sent around the end for good gains but the principal play was by a fierce Cruel ling drive at the line. Nebraska was only dangerous about the middle Of the second half when the Cornhuskers OBJ the Gophers fully 70 yards to within 20 yards of the goal, where Minnesota fin ally held The only mishap of the game was to Cutting, who was compelled to retire in to his ankle. More than 10000 people saw the game, including a number of Nebraska state officials.
