SAY CHICAGO IS SURE TO SCORE Maroon Supporters Confident Michigan’s Goal Line Will Be Crossed, Says Chronicle. Chicago, Nov. 27.-The Chronicle says: Interest is growing each day in the crucial football game Marshall field Thursday between Michigan and Chicago. The teams practically had line up for the kickoff Thursday they will contain some of the greatest players ever seen the gridiron, and the battle will decide clear ly the championship Of the west. .~.,. ..’ Michigan remains hot favorite. To all appearances she is to hold the title, and it seems to the best critics of the west that she has the greatest team. Chicago has a chance. The maroons, will fight this year as they never have before in a game with the wolverines, but it looks as if their fight will be uphill, and they will be fortunate II they score. That Chicago will score is believed by all the enthusiastic supporters of the Midway eleven. as confident that Yost’s team will so thru the season without a count being made against it. Betting Will Be Brisk. Odds of three to one on Michigan to win are ofered by Michigan students, and the money is seldom covered. Even money that Chicago will score is offered by the Chicago followers, and is fbae wifi ahsed b neDt gD by o the Msha the game, but there will be little placed on the final result. Nearly all Of the bets are on the | score or that the, maroons will count. The | latter bet is considered good one by the ma rooms, for they bank on Eckersall’s good right | foot to make them winners. II the little ma | room quarterback gets to the wolverines 40-yard line goal is likely to result. | There were no games of great interest in the west Saturday. The game between Minnesots and Northwestern at Minnesota was the only one to attract attention, and it was only s question of how big a score the gophers woulC run up on the much dilapidated purple team Minnesota surprised all of the western critics by her dash and speed in making count OF | 72 to 6. Williams Team Strong. However, the terrible drubbing given the mer coached by Mccormack more than overbalances the fact that they scored Oh the gophers. Dr. | Williams has another great team. In spite Of the fact however, he cannot claim a plac, better than fourth in the rating of the western | tea1ns- Ehe winner of the game between Chi cago and Michigan Thursday will have clea claim to first place In western football. i ~ The loser will have an equally clear CLAIM TO second place, and the University Of wis consln has already certainty on third, witt Minnesota fourth. From all the results it wouI look as tho the purple has had the weakes team of any of, the schools of the ‘‘big nine Outside of the ‘big nine’ Nebraska, Notr Dame and Wabash have been Of consequences.
