ENDED IN A TIE. The Harvard Dartmouth Con- test Closed 6 to 6. Was Virtually Victory for the Green and White. IMMENSE CROWD OUT. Dartmouth Did Their Star Work in First Half. Cambridge, Mass, Nov. 1S.-Befors one of the greatest crowds that has ever gathered within the stadium grounds Dartmouth this afternoon played Harvard almost to a standstin in their annual game, the score being a tie, to 6, at the end Of the contest. 1t was a virtual Dartmouth vic tory. Two years ago the green and white defeated the crimson u to and last year played them to moth ing to nothing score. This year with odds against them, Dartmouth by mas terful playing kept the crimson team from defeating them and nearly won It was the cleanest exhibition OF football ever seen on the stadium grounds. There was not the slightest semblance of smuggling. In the first half and within 10 minutes of play Dartmouth scored a touchdown. At the outset Dartmouth inmediately began to rush and constantly made her distance despite the efforts of the opposing eleven. Herr finally carried the ball through right tackle for Is yards for a touchdown. GlGsco kicked the goal. Harvard also scored her only touchdown and goal in this half. BROWN AND DARTMOUTH SCORES. Standing of Both Teams Improved by Results of Saturdays Games. Springfield, Mass, Nov Pitt has become more and more apparent as the weeks of foot ball strife have passed that two teams Of exceptional merit will meet on Hampden park next Satur day, and it is impossible now to pick a winner with any certainty OF success. The results of Saturdays games did not clear up the problem, but on the contrary contained evidence that both Dart. mouth and Brown men can point to as showing that their team has the better eahnce Of winning. Dartmouth succeed ed not only in tying Harvard, but in outplaying the crimson, whereas earlier in the season Brown was beaten. by Hair ward 10 to 0. Saturdays score of 6 to 6 against Harvard showed that the Han over team has not gone back since the vticory over Princeton, and Amherst’s fine showing against Williams partly explains the game with Dartmouth the week after the Princeton game. But Brown on Saturday rolled up an inn mense score on the University of Vermont, which Dartmouth, in one Of the seasons early games, beat only ~ to O., which shows that the Providence young men could not have been much harmed with their contact with old Eli. A comparison OF the scores of Brown and Dartmouth against the teams both have Played by no means accurate measure---is somewhat in Browns favor. The second game Of each team was against the Massachusetts agricultural college team, Dartmouth making 1SI points and Brown a. Vermont and
