LONG DRILL FOR QUAKER ELEVEN. Columbia’s Victory Over Cornell Cause for Some Apprehension. Philadelphia. Nov 2O-Mike Murphy the trainer Of the Pennsylvania football team. has concluded that Columbia suffered the humiliating defeat at the hands Of Yale not much because Yale was So points better than the NewYork team, but because Columbia experienced stage fright before the game and did not recover throughout the contest. The game at Ithaca Saturday shows that the team play football, and Mike Murphy says Pennsylvania will have to keep awake all the time or perhaps get the surprise that appears in store for of the big teams each year. The work to-day was the best of the season. The practice long and at all times hard. The var sity scored five touchdowns against a strong scrub and the latter. through fumbIes. crossed the Sitys goal twice. DR.. StaUffer, who officiated at Ithaca on Saturday as referee. was on Franklin FIetu IHs aitSrHGon ana psuq parLcular attention nalized frequently in the early part of the practice but nearing the end the showed signs of having mastered the fault of holding and starting ahead OF the ball. 1t is the intention of coaches TO drive the men against Columbia formations from now until Friday when they will let up with signal drill. The coaches admit that ii is Columbia not Cornell, they fear.
