ALABAMA WALKS OVER NASHVILLE Final Score Was Alabama 17, Nashville 0 RESULT NEVER IN DOUBT Result of Yesterdays Game Promises an Exceptionally Interesting Con- test When Ausurn and Ala bama Meet in Birmingham. Tuscaloosa; October A.-(Speeial.) .)-The second game of the football season which it has been the pleasure of Tusealoosians to witness was pulled off on the campus this afternoon, when the University of Nashville met the home boys in hotly fought contest. resulting in a victory for the latter by the score of r to O Play was called promptly at 3 o’clock, Nashville taking the east goal and Ala bama the kickoff. The latter started into the game with great life and pluck, and easily made the required gains, actually forcing the ball within two yards of Nashvlle’s goal in the first five minutes. Here occurred a bad tumble, Alabama losing the ball and Nashville falling on it behind their own goal line, making only a touch back, which has no count. A touchdown should have been made. Alabama went at it again, however, from the twenty-five yard line, and soon succeeded In making the delayed score After this there was a considerable brace in the Nashville line. and correspond ing depression in Alabamas, so that a somewhat long drawn out see-sawing was about all that was accomplished during the rest of the half. After some rather severe coaching dur ing the interval of rest, they went at it again with geatly increased determina- ton and Alabama for the second time showed that they were masters of the sit uation. They carried the ball steadily for ward from the beginning, and with unfail- ing gains scored the second touchdown. The ball was then again kicked off with about five more minutes in which to play. | When about half of this time was gone on kick by the Nashville back, Burks received the ball and made probably the most sensational run of forty yards down the field for a score that was ever wit messed on the campus. At least six men tackled him, and though he had no in- terferenee, he passed them all success fully, and only stopped when the ball was downed between the goal posts. About one minute of time was left after this, and time was called with the ball in Nashvilles territory. The game was of particular interest in that Nashville played Auburn Saturday, being beaten by score of 19 to 0. The indications seem to be, therefore, that | Auburn and Alabama are of about the same strength and that the game in Bir- mingham on November 12 for supremacy will be hard fought. Following was the lineup: Nashville-Abbott left end Young, left tackle; Lee and Reskov, left guard; FL gin, center; Sims, right guard; Peake, right tackle; Lassiter, right end Hook att, quarter; Sims left half; Parnell, | right half Reed full back.
