REVENGE FOR ILLINOIS NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY DE- FEATED L. TO AT CHICAGO. All the Scoring Done in the Second HaIf-Big Score Piled Up by Mich igan Against Oberlin. CHICAGO, ILL.,, Nov 22.-The University of Illinois football team wiped out last years defeat here to-day by downing the Northwestern University team, IL TO 0. All of the scoring was done in the second half. Baird’s excellent kicking kept the final count as low as it was. Northwestern was kept on the defensive throughout the game and in the first half, when the Purple was at its best, unfortunate fumbling spoiled several chances for the Illinois men to cross the Purple goal line. Despite all this, how ever. Northwestern played desperately to the end, and particularly in the first half put up a strong game defensively. Held to a 0-to-0 score in the first half the Illinois men became desperate in the sec ond half and in the twenty-five minutes Of play in this period literally ran over the Evanston players and piled up three touch downs in rapid succession. Cook converted two of these touchdowns into goals, making the total IL points Lineup:

Buchtel rooters had chance to shout to finish Saturday afternoon on Buchtel field when Buchtel beat Hiram by a score Of II to 6. The weather was ideal but the field was not. At the west end there were large pools Of water and into these 20 gridron war Tiors would occasionally fall and then the crowd would laugh Despite the mudy field, the faithful who wandered over to the grounds saw q game that was well worth going to, from the Buchtel standpoint, at least. From the manner In which the team played Saturday, spectator would scarcely have recognized the team that was everlastingly beaten by WOoster and Heidelberg. As on the two previous Saturdays, Buchtel stacked up against an eleven that was far heavier than itself. But the contest had gone on but a few moments before the spectators were eware that weight is not the only requisite OH football team. Buchtel’s do. fensive work was astonishing. Out weighed 18 pounds to the man, yet Buchtel’s line held like veterans white on offensive. Buchtel’s line tore holes IN Hiram’s through which Buchtel’s light backs darted for good gains. The manner in which Pitkin and Parshnll, each of whom weighs about LBS pounds would gain several yards with one or two heavy Hiram men hanging onto them, was astonishing. Parshall played the best game of the year. His dodging while running with the ball and his defensive work are deserving OF the gentest praise. His opponent on the Hiram team was 20 pounds heavier, yet 1t was necessary to take out timo on several occasions while the Portage youth recovered his bearings Prettier tackling than was done by Weary has not been seen here this season, On ono occasion. Woodruff, Hirnm’s 170-pound halfback, and a crack player, broke away from the bunch and set sail with n clear field with the exception of Weary. And Weary stopped him by perfect tackle. Then everybody waited while the beefy HiramItc found his breath. Fitchthorne was used for good gains. He hit the line hard and never failed to advance fhe ball. Hiram won tho toss and chose dry land that ON the east side OF the field. Weary kicked OFF to Williamson. Wood bury went around right end for Is yards. On the middle of the field
