YALE DEFEATS WESLEYAN. Score 35 to O-Methodists Nearly Scored In Last Half. Score 35 to 0-M ethOufses Neariy sc”reu in Last Half. Yale played a great game of football in the first half of the game with Wes- leyan on Yale field yesterday afternoon and ran the visitors completely off their feet In the second half of the contest the lineup of the blue was almost en- tirely changed and the Methodists came within ten yards of scoring, when time was called. The substitutes went all to pieces and it was fortunate for Yale that the team in the first half ran up a substantial score. The feature of the first half of the game was run of forty-f1ve yards by Metcaif. He caught the ball on the kickoff and made a typical Johnny De- Saulies dash through the Wesleyan team. The line men were veritable stone wall in the initial half, and the Wesleyan team was absolutely help less. The Yale subs in the last hale fun1- bIed the ball with great regularity. The men in the line held their Wesleyan op- ponents, and Yale was penalized time and again for this offense. The sensa- ton of this half was Wards run of 105 yards with the ball, resulting in a touchdown. Wesleyan kicked off to Yale’s five-yard line. Ward caught the bail and went the entire length of the field. The score at the end of the first half stood 22 to and at the end of the game 35 to in Yale’s favor. HARVARD. POSITION. AMHERST.
