  YALE II; WESLEYAN o. Perfect Weather-YaIe Wins Easily But Wesleyan Has Star Player. New Haven, Conn, Sept. 29.-Witn perfect football weather for so early in the season, Yale opened it’s 1909 series today by defeating Wesleyan II to 0. Although Yale won, the individual star of the game was Rice, the Wesleyan fullback, who in the second half hit the strong Yale line again and again for gains and who with good support back OF him would have scored. Yale used three quarterbacks dur ing the game, Johnson, Bingham and Howe, all generated the team and Howe who was last made the best i’m preston. Johnson’s work was too in dividual and Bingham seemed to lack life.

  HARVARD AND YALE ARE WEAK PLAYED FIRST GAME OF SEASON YALE BEATS WESLEYAN AND HARVARD BEATS BATES BOTH SCORES II TO O. New Haven. Sept. 29.-Yale opened the football season by defeating Yves leyan, II to O. The individual star of the game was Rice, the Wesleyan full back. who in the second half hit the Yale strong line again and again for gains and who, with good support back of him would have scored. Yale used three quarterbacks Johnson, Bingham and Howe. Howe made the best impression.
