Kansas Gamble Fails, Nebraska Wins, 90 LINCOLN. Nebr., Oct. 81 Kansas took a big gamble today, missed and lost a fiercely- fought football game to Nebraska, 9 to 6. It was in the third period and it was fourth and 6 on the Ne braska 46 when Kansas decided to run from kick formation. The run died on the Nebraska 42 and the HuSkerS were fired up for a touchdown. On the first play, Bob Smith slid over center and was off for the Kansas goal. He didn’t quite make 1t because Ralph Moody ran him down from behind on the 8. Then Nebraska drew a 5-yard penalty, but had the answer to a touchdown by giving the ball to Smith again. In the fourth period Kansas Bob Allison fumbled a punt on the Kansas 80 and Tackle Ted Connor gobbled up the ball on the 81 for the HuSkers. This time Nebraska couldn’t get a touchdown but John Bordogma place-kicked a 21-yard field goal. The loss knocked Kansas out of the Big Seven race with two defeats. It was Nebraska’s first conference win in three starts. A crowd of $4,000 watched the game. Kansas O q O 90 Nebraska O O 6 80 Nebraska scoring: Touchdown – Smith. Field goal-Bordogna.
