Mapp PAGES VMI To 14-O Victory CHARLESTON. S. c., Oct. 10. - Virginia Military Institute, spanked by the eel-like running of Johnny Mapp and Charlie Lavery, spoiled The Citadel’S Homecoming celebration today with 14–0 victory over the Bulldogs. Mapp, who leads the Southern Conference in scoring with SO points, got off the games longest run, a 52-yard touchdown jaunt in the first period, and rolled up an impressive 116 yards by himself. Lavery, a sub halfback, reeled off several gains of more than 20 yards and was a thorn in the Bulldogs side all afternoon. The Citadel. while threatening several times, was never able to advance closer than the VMI 24-yard line. Mapp brought the crowd of $500 to it’s feet early in the game when he took a ch-out, eluded two would-be tacklers at the line of scrimmage, cut to the right side line and scooted to score unmolested.
