.CIasbYL Leads Harvard To $50 Victory Over Ohio U. in Opener CAMBRIDGE, Mass, Oct. s. A solid two-way performance by Capt. Dick Clasby rallied Harwards jittery forces into a 1910 victory over Ohio University today as the Crimson launched it’s 80th intercollegiate football season. With most of his teammates afflicted with first-game jitters, ClaSby overcame their many miscues by intercepting two forward passes to set the stage for a touchdown pass and a 22-yard field goal by specialist Joe Ross. After making his first snatch and returning it 20 yards to Ohio’s 26, Clasby, with Harvard operating out of the single wing, tossed to Bob CowleS in the Ohio end zone with less than three minutes remaining in the first half. Midway through the third period, Clasby intercepted an other of Bill Frederick’s aerials and lugged it 80 yards to Ohio’s II. Then, after Cowles caught a ClaSby pass few inches outside of the Ohio end zones right side line to ruin well-executed scoring play, Ross had to be called into action. Harvard’s other touchdown also resulted from a ClaSby pass. That fourth period play, COM pleted by Bob Hardy, ate up so yards with the latter running the last 20. Operating from the straight and split-T throughout, Ohio was capable of only one threat ening thrust. Lowell Anderson, it’s center, got it started by recovering a Clasby tumble on Harvard’s 19 soon after the Sec ond half’s kickoff. Frederick passed to Chuck Bell on Harvard’s 8. But that crucial gain was wiped out by offSetting penalties and two plays later the Bobcats from Athens, Ohio, lost the ball on downs.
