Dartmouth S passing ace, crossed up Harvard twice with scoring runs as the Indians gained their first 1850 triumph, 27–7, today before a $4,000 crowd at the stadium. And after settling matters with 1-yard scoring sneak and a Is yard gallop into the Harvard enc zone, Clayton resumed his GUS tomary football role and launched a 28-yard touchdown heave to Dick Collins early in the finale. Unable to gain with it’s running attack, Harvard finally got Its passing attack clicking late in the game and little Carroll Lowenstein put two long heaves together Winger Paul Crowley dragging down the second on Dartmouth s Is and going the rest of the way untouched. But Dartmouth’s substitutes who were in action at that stage took the resulting Harvard kick off and drove 10 yards before BOZ McCraney, the Clayton stand-in contacted Substitute Halfback Dick Brown with five-yarG touchdown pass with only Is sec onds remaining. Dartmouth, which had only a 21–21 opening game tie with Holy Cross to boast about to date, was SO hungry for its initial win that it drew total of lis yards in penalties. mostly for roughing and once for having IL men in action. | But those aggressive tactics held Harvard’s rushing yardage to deplorable minus-19 yards while leaving openings for the Crimson to make lot by air.
