Runs, Passes for AGO Yards In 42–26 Win Over Dartmouth PHILADELPHIA, Oct. IA. - Francis (Reds) Bagnell. dazzling all-America hope, set new collegiate record today by running and passing for a total of 400 yards in a spectacular one-man show to lead Pennsylvania to a 1926 victory over Dartmouth, before $1,000 gaping spectators. The f1ashy Bagnell broke the old mark set by Indiana’s Hunchy Hoernschemeyer who picked up 458 yards back in 1943. Not since the golden days Of Red Grange has a ball player so completely dominated a major game here as this carrot-topped kid who used to be a water boy for the Penn clubs of years ago. Completing IA straight passes from the second period to the fourth, Bagnell eclipsed an old record set by Pete Dorset of Cor nell against Princeton in 1947. 276 Yards Gained on Passes. The durable Penn Captain, a o. year-old six-footer hit the bulls eye with 20 of 20 pitches for 276 yards. One toss was good for touchdown. He carried the ball l8 times and gained PA yards. Squirming through the Dart mouth defenders for three touch downs. Bagnell legged his way for 214 yards along the ground. He lugged 13 yards for one touch down, bulled from the one for q second and streaked 81 yards for his final score in the dying min utes. A six-letter man in football, baseball and basketball, Bagnell completely dominated play in a free-scoring contest with his amazing individual performance. Here are the comparative fig ures between Bagnell’s perform ance and Hoernschemeyer’s old mark, set when Indiana played Nebraska in 1943:
