    Y. N. !. Passing Game Seen Threat 10 6. W. On nLynchburg Grid LYNCHBURG, Va. Oct. L. George Washington and Virginia Military Institute open their Southern Conference campaigns in City Stadium here tonight in a take-your- pick football game. Both lost their openers last week, although G. w. came from behind to tie Virginia in the third quarter and extend the Cavaliers all the way before losing. 27–13. The Keydets held heavily favored Quantico Marines to a 14–7 vic tory. v. NJ. I. won last years game 26–6, on Bobby Thomason’s passes, but Thomason was graduated. The Keydets still have Joe Veltri, how ever, and two years ago he COM pleted IS out of 20 passes against the Colonials in a game the Key diets won here on the last play OF the game. Coach Tom Negent of v. M. I. has been working his team on pass defense all week, a tribute-to Andy Davis, G. WIS quadruple- threat back who clicked for 22l yards through the air against Virginia last week. Davis was in the Virginia game for all but a half-dozen plays and has been running hard all week, despite the shaking up he took while going almost all the way on offense and defense. The Keydets will be deeper in man power as Coach Nugent plans to use the two platoon system, although Ends Red Patton and Thatcher Watson may have to play both offense and defense. Geroge Washington Coach Bo Rowland. disappointed over his teams defensive play last week, is confident the Colonials will be sharper and also hopes to produce a running attack with Davis, AL DuGoff and Bill Shaw carrying. G. w. was held to minus eight yards last week.
