The conference scramoles defi- nitely tatbed the University of California at Los Angeles as solid contender, perhaps the team to Eeat for the title. Any lingering doubts were dispelled by the man. ner in which U.C.L-A. measured defending co-champion Oregon. The score was 35–27 and the win ners led all the way. oregon drew up to within point of new Coach Henry “RadTSanders’ hard run ming squad in the Friday night clash, but U.C.L.A. was the boss in the clutch. Stanford’s youngish club held the nations mythical champion of last season, Michigan, to a TO lead at halftime but fell to pieces before a three touchdown rally in the third quarter. Washington was with Notre Dame for the first two periods but succumbed to the Irish spurt in the second half.
