  Drake Takes 14–⁠13 Salad Bowl Game PHOENIX, Ariz., Jan. 1.-Drake University of Des Moines, Iowa, stopped two University Of Arizona last quarter scoring threats-one on the one-yard line-to win a l4-l3 Salad Bowl football victory today. The winners scored both of their touchdowns in the first half before a crowd estimated at 1850. Sta tistically Arizona had the edge with 27S yards rushing, 81 yards passing and Is first downs to 176-30-9 for Drake. brakes first score came in the opening period after Guard Anvil Stille recovered a tumble on the Arizona 80. Nine plays later Full back Frank Metzger scored from the three, and Tackle Dick Steere added the extra point. Arizona evened the count after Tackle Harry Warner recovered a tumble on the Iowans’ Is. Eddie Wolgast scored from two yards out. Wrinferd Tackett converted. brakes big break came later in the period when Fullback Floyd Miller intercepted a pass and went IA yards to score. Steere again converted. Arizonas last score came after ten minutes of the third quarter. Warner recovered Halfback Jimmy Baer’s tumble on the Drake 29 Wolgast and Charley Hall carried the offense load with Wolgast again scoring. Tackett’s attempted conversion failed.
