  Vanderbilt Beats l.. S. u. First Time In II Years, 48–⁠7 NASHVILLE, Tenn, Nov. 6.-The Vanderbilt Commodores, develop ing more power each week, rolled to 48–⁠7 victory over Louisiana State in a homecoming Southeast ern Conference football game today The win was Vanderbilt’s third straight in conference play. It also marked the first time since 1887 that the Commodores beat L.S.U A capacity crowd of 22,500 saw the game. All the scoring and drama came in the second and third quarters Vanderbilt clicked for 20 points in the second and % in the third LSU’s lone score came on an ST. yard kickoff return in the second by Ken Konz. The Commodores began to move shortly after an uneventful OPEN ing period. A pass from Bobby Berry to Mac Robinson for 65 yards set up the first score. Berry lugged it over from the four. A 70-yard Vanderbilt march was climaxed by a four-yard touch down plunge by Dean Davidson. Just before the half ended, David son fired 50-yard pass to End Bucky Curtis in the end zone. The rout began in earnest in the third quarter. Vandy whipped across four touchdowns, featured by Zealand Thigpens 80-yard dash.
