SATURDAYS FOOTBALL. Harvard Defeated Pennsylvania and Yale Beat West Point. | Harvard Defeated Pennsylvania and Yale Beat West Point. There were more surprises in the football world Saturday, probably the biggest one being the defeat Of Prince ton by Cornell on the formers grounds. The score was II to and the outcome was a bitter pill for the Tigers. Har- ward easily took the Pennsylvanians off their feet and won by the score of II to 5 in a game attended BY 10000 people, The defeat of the Quakers was great surprise to almost everybody with the exception of the Harvard play ers and students, for it was hardly deemed possible for the crimson to withstand the terrible” guards-back formation that has been so deadly in the past, but which has evidently been solved. Yale was able to make but three touchdoWns against the light West Point team, yet that team was unable to come within scoring distance of the blues goal. Harry Benham of this city played left end on the Yale team and did remarkably fine work. No substantial gains We’re made around his end, although the soldiers turned it on trick play once. The game Saturday was the first that Benham has figured in on the varsity, and 1t was the sec ond time that he has lined up as a member of the Yale team Any player is apt to be nervous under those conditions, and the showing of the little player was all the more creditabe. The following was the lineup of the two teams: WEST POINT. YALE.

VICTORY FOR THE BLUE. Yale Beats West Point Yesterday by Comfortable Margin. Comfortable Margin. WEST POINT, N. Y, November g. Fully 1000 people saw the foot ball game here to-day between West Point and Yale. The score was: Yale IS; West Point 0. The crowd was not as large as that upon the occasion of the Harvard game, but there was much more enthusiasm. The weather was all that could be desired and the field was in prime condition. The game was a lfiercely contested one from the start. Owing to the strength of the Yale eleven, the ball was in West Points territory during the greater part of the game. Yale scored six points in the first half and twelve in the second, West Point falling to score.
