CADETS EARN 46–2l VICTORY OVER CORNELL Doc Blanchard Stays On Sidelines For Second Tilt WEST POINT, N. Y, Oct. g. R-The Big Red of Cornell saw red often enough today to pile up more points against Army’s foot ballers than any other grid outfit has done for three years, but not nearly often enough to stop the Cadets from careening to their 21st straight victory. Not since Notre Dame kicked the Army mule all around the Yankee Stadium premises in 1913 has an upstart set of gridders dared to do what the Cornells did this time, actually leading for a few moments i0 the first quarter then coming up off the floor to cor twice more in the closing half. But all it got them for their troubles and their good old college try was a 46 to q whipping by Earl Blaik’s battering ram, and the cheers of a large portion of the sellout crowd of Is, 800 customers in Niche stadium. Doc Blanchard was on the side lines again for the second straight Saturday, but his touchdown twin, Glenn Davis, was more than enough. The California Comet whizzed over for four touchdoWns three of them in the first quarter and what with assorted other point-makers, Army never was in any real trouble once the steam roller got rolling in the manner to which it has become accustomed. But more than any other club this season, Cornell demonstrated that the Army second team isn’t too healthy, speaking from a strictly football point of view of course. Two of the Cornell touch downs-at the end of the third quarter, when rapid-running Wally Kretz went over after Bob Deans passes had set it up, and at the start of the final chapter when Jack Burns, heaved a 22-yarder to Hillard Chollet-Were counted against the Army second stringers
