UNDEFEATED GRID ROSTER PARED TO zf MAJOR SQUADS Navy Team Unimpressive Against Penn State- Army Powerful Only 21 Of the Gridiron Great have unmarred records today after several shockers last week end saw Cornell, Tulane, Southern California, Texas A. & M, Florida and Washing ten State go down to defeat for the first time. Penn State also suffered it’s first licking, but the Nittany Lions were not hoping to do anything but hold Navy’s score down. The Middles, minus the services of the injured Clyde Scott and Bob Jenkins, looked far from impressive in their 28–0 conquest. Navy’s attack begged down at crucial moments and similar lapses might prove fatal Saturday night against Georgia Tech, which surprised them last year. Army, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Minnesota, Indiana and Texas among the top-ranking teams-con- tinued their all-conquering ways. The Cadets were given rousing tussle by Michigans Wolverines, with Doc Blanchard and Glenn Da- wis proving the difference in the 28–7 count. Blanchard made two touch- downs, one on a 68-yard dash, and was a tower of strength on the de- fense Davis contributed 70-yard scoring sprint. Notre Dame threw in 50 players in an effort to hold the score down to $40 against Dartmouth and prob- ably will dc the same next Saturday against the clawless Pitt Panthers who lost another, to Michigan State, 12–7.
